Gibson, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive end and one of the top players in and around Cleveland on either side of the line of scrimmage, verbally committed Monday night to play for Northwestern. He had given a verbal commitment in August to play at Pittsburgh, but opened the process again after coach Dave Wannstedt resigned under pressure in December.
